This Looks Much Better

That face you make when the video company’s lead asks a stagehand to clean up a c-stand with some duvateen.

I’ll Bend Your Ear About The “Refurbished” Scaffold Planks

Recently we did some rear projection using Barco Cinema projectors.

These things are about 200lbs each.

The planks for the scaffolding were just recently replaced, and cheap plywood was used.

Friends, don’t use 3-ply 3/8″ for refurbishing scaffold decking. 5-ply marine-grade is what you want.

Tip of the hat to me, since I witnessed it!

Rhymes with Truck for $50,000

There’s an overpass in Georgia that eats trucks.

The support is very close to the right lane, and there’s a lip of asphalt on the pavement. If a truck’s right wheels get on the outside of this lip, it will tip the box enough to collide with the support.

Apparently the wrecker said this was the second truck that day, and the 11th of the year, and it was only April.

Steel-Belted

Do these belts make my rigging look fat?

Hopefully this isn’t the only exit. Opening the door might be a challenge.

Breaker, Breaker, Locked On

That feel when the house electrician ties your distro in and then locks the breaker in the “on” position…

After seeing it, the tech asked the next shift’s house electrician about it, and it was fixed thusly:

Ugly Networking Is Ugly

There is so much wrong with this, I’m not sure where to start.

Why set up a table for a temporary wireless router when you can jam it in between the chair rail and wall? And with some gaff tape truss-work, your antennae will stay at the optimum angle.

Further down, we see some great alignment of HVAC devices.

But then, there’s the connections to the power and network and some ad-hoc tinfoil hat shielding bullshit.

I cry.

Got the Bends? Bar It With Ballast!

Sometimes, fast-fold screens with weak hinges will simultaneously bow inward and upward.

This clever individual used a scaffold stabilizer, weighted lens case and trick line to make this screen square and plumb.
